CHAIRMAN’S NEWS LETTER - 2009/10 SEASON Welcome the Chairman’s newsletter. This season we want to focus on three things: - Encouraging more women - especially on the coaching side, to get involved with the club. If you are interested, please contact Darrell Hawkes, Debbie Campbell or your year group coach.
- Improving our administration - already very good, but it can always benefit from new people and new ideas. Again, if you have the skills and time to help the club in some way, please get in touch with Darrell Hawkes or your year group coach.
- Strengthening our ethos - an inclusive, friendly club where we encourage girls of all backgrounds and ability to having fun playing football in a positive and secure environment.
Highlights of the 2008/9 Season Here are just some of the things that we’ve done since our formation in June 2008: - Provided full kit to 10 teams and rain jackets to all players and coaches, thanks to the generous support of sponsors

- Held an end-of-season presentation evening at King’s Weston House.
- Helped organise a tournament for primary schools in association with the GFA and established School-Club Links with Redland Green, Cotham and Red Maids Schools, as well as six hub Primary Schools
.…..and a few of our successes! - The U14s had a great season, winning the Bristol Girls League title, remaining undefeated until the very last game of the season. Well done to John, Kevin, Debbie and the team.
- The Seniors consolidated their position in SWWFL Premier Division, which is a major achievement given that it’s the third tier of English women’s football.

The Mall at Cribbs Causeway keeps us looking good We are delighted to have The Mall at Cribbs Causeway as our Official Club Sponsors It was through their generous sponsorship that we were able to start our first season with every player in brand new kit, so that we looked like a successful club from day one.To continue their sponsorship for a second year, Maria Crayton, Head of Marketing at The Mall attended our AGM in July and handed the club a cheque from The Mall’s Fountain Charity Fund. We are also grateful to our other club sponsors Robert Half International, Edward Drummond, Bristol Novelty and Blue Escapes whose sponsorship allowed us to provide rain jackets to all players at heavily discounted prices. Most recently, we are very pleased to have entered into a sponsorship agreement with G4S to help fund our coaching and child welfare programmes. BLUFC awarded the FA's Charter Standard The FA’s Charter Standard Scheme sets standards for coaching, administration and child protection for all clubs outside the Football League and Premier League. For BLUFC to have achieved the Standard in its first year is a remarkable achievement, with the main thanks going to our Club Secretary, Darrell Hawkes for co-ordinating and managing our successful application.. This is what it takes to be awarded the Charter Standard: - A written constitution
- FA CRB checked volunteers
- All managers to have minimum of FA Level 1 Coaching Course
- Commitment to attend in-service training
- Acceptance and promotion of Codes of Conduct (see www.blufc.co.uk)
